In the feature "17 Strategies for Smarter Holiday Eating," health editor Danielle Kosecki features tips from diet and nutrition experts. Among them: Temple's Nicole Patience and Amy Virus, both registered dieticians. Patience's suggestion: when arriving at a party or a dinner, take stock of all the food that's offered, before loading up your plate. "Look at everything and ask yourself, 'What will I enjoy having the most?' and have that," she says. If holiday travel includes a long car trip, Virus suggests packing a cooler with whole grain bread, lean lunchmeats, peanut butter, water and pre-cut veggies.
