Philadelphia's favorite diva Patti LaBelle will receive an honorary degree from Temple University. According to Temple President Ann Weaver Hart, LaBelle is being honored for her professional excellence and her selfless service to others. The university will present the Grammy award winning singer with a doctorate in humane letters at its commencement May 13th. LaBelle served as a spokeswoman for the American Diabetes Association after being diagnosed with the condition. Two years ago, she partnered with Temple to raise awareness about diabetes.
