New York Times: Latest album by trumpeter Terell Stafford hits a high note

For a trumpeter of his experience, proficiency and adaptability, Terell Stafford, director of the jazz program at Temple's Boyer College of Music and Dance, has had a relatively low profile in jazz. But, according to New York Times reviewer Nate Chinen, Stafford's newest album might change all that — "not only because of the appealing programmatic conceit — it consists of songs by the great jazz composer Billy Strayhorn, reconfigured for hard-bop quintet — but also because it so clearly showcases Mr. Stafford's steady hand as both an improviser and a bandleader," wrote Chinen.
