NYT: How universities cope with uncertainty abroad

The New York Time's "Education Life" section featured a story on how travel advisories, such as those issued this past year for New Zealand, Egypt and Japan, affect study abroad programs. Most study-abroad sponsors base their decisions to suspend programs on the State Department warnings; advisories can trip insurance policies, leaving little choice but to evacuate students. Most of the 69 study-abroad students who had to leave Temple University, Japan Campus, are completing credits at the university's main campus in Philadelphia or online.
