As the Phillies' payroll escalates in the wake of deals like the Cliff Lee signing, will fans balk at paying more for tickets? Not at all, says Joris Drayer, assistant professor of sports management at Temple's Sport Industry Research Center. "Philadelphia is a big market, but it's clearly not in the same league as New York City, Chicago or Los Angeles. However, it's also the only one from that list that has only one team,” Drayer said. "So for the Phillies, where is the money going to come from? If the answer is the fans, then the important follow-up question is 'Will they pay?' With a rotation like that, I say 'yes.'"
