Philadelphia-born composer, arranger and saxophonist Jimmy Heath, best known as the anchor of the legendary Heath Brothers band, has arranged many of his life stories into a new memoir from Temple University Press, I Walked with Giants. During his youth, Heath performed alongside Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Milt Jackson, Clifford Brown, Art Blakey, and Philly Joe Jones. He talked with Radio Times’ host Marty Moss-Coane about working with these jazz giants. According to a Philadelphia Inquirer review, Heath shares the spotlight in his long-awaited autobiography just as he did throughout much of his career: his account of his own life is filled with reminiscences from others.
