In an encouraging trend, the number of people moving into Philadelphia has increased since 1993, according to a new report by Pew Charitable Trusts' Philadelphia Research Initiative. At the same time, the number of people moving out of the city remains greater than the influx. But the hemorrhage of residents is slowing. "I would say the trend is looking as if we may be seeing a reversal of long-term decline in city population," said David Elesh, a sociologist and demography expert with Temple's Metropolitan Philadelphia Indicators Project.
