Prolonged bottle use could mean a fat child

Another possible way to prevent your baby from becoming a fat child: Don't use a bottle longer than necessary. A new study of 6,750 children compared prolonged bottle users — those whose primary drink container was a bottle or who were usually put to bed with a bottle at 24 months — with those who were not. The prolonged users were 30 percent more likely to be obese at age 5 and a half. "For young toddlers, an eight-ounce bottle of whole milk can contain close to 12 percent of their daily caloric intake," said first author Rachel A. Gooze, a Ph.D. candidate in public health at Temple.
