As more findings emerge about the long-term effects of concussions, Temple kinesiology professor Ryan Tierney has been studying whether some athletes are more prone to concussions than others. "As the brain is being stressed from repetitive head impacts, it's possible that a protein that's supposed to aid in cell repair, if not working properly, could increase susceptibility of injury to the nervous system," said Tierney.
