Temple Career Center director notes benefits of teen entrepreneurship

In an economy that's killed a chunk of the traditional teen job market, some local teenagers are finding ways to use their skills and interests as self-employed entrepreneurs. Creating your own job may take more effort than filling out an application, but it can also be rewarding. "I think that the trend towards self-employment is only going to continue in the future," said Rachel Brown, director of Temple's Career Center. The skills learned through entrepreneurship apply to all future careers, Brown said. "Being flexible, building up a network and utilizing contacts are lifelong skills."
