Elias Siraj, director of clinical endocrinology at Temple University Hospital, was out for a walk when he noticed that a high school in Upper Dublin was being demolished. Siraj, the coordinator of a relief project for a school in Adwa, Ethiopia, didn't want the supplies inside to go to waste, so he worked with the school district and Boeing to send outdated computers, TVs, projectors, VCRs and thousands of textbooks to the school in Africa. "It took a year-and-a-half to accomplish," he said. "Finally, all the pieces came together and we were able to transport the materials to Seattle and then to Ethiopia."
