In response to increasing homicides involving young people, Temple University Hospital Chief of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care Amy Goldberg created Cradle to Grave, an interactive experience that confronts participants with the consequences of gun violence. "The goal of the program is not to scare these kids straight, but rather to educate them about the harsh realities of gun violence, and we feel there's no better way to do so than bringing them as close to this experience as we can without them having to be injured first," said Scott Charles, the hospital's trauma outreach coordinator, who participated in an in-depth interview for "Flashpoint: Guns in America."
