Temple men's basketball team — a group of overachievers
TV crews were on campus over the weekend as the Owls celebrated an amazing win and recovered from a disappointing loss. Their disappointment was understandable, but according to Inquirer reporter Keith Pompey, it can be argued that it was unwarranted. "In a way, the 26-8 Owls overachieved," wrote Pompey. Hampered by injuries, the team still tied the 1983-84 team (26-5) for the seventh-highest win total in school history. Temple will return four starters and eight of its top nine players. Three of those starters are double-digit scorers. "I think we have a very good foundation," Owls head coach Fran Dunphy said, "and I'm very proud of our team."
