Temple men's rugby club team "playing with pride"
Temple's men's rugby football club is on the rise. After a runner-up finish in the 2010 Division II national championship, Temple made the jump to Division I. They've only lost two games since then. This weekend, the ascendant Owls will take part in the nationally televised USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship at PPL Park in Chester. "Each and every day, I wake up and can't wait for this weekend to get here," said Temple star Gareth Jones, who recently returned from a stint playing rugby in Ireland. "It's absolutely massive, especially with sevens becoming an Olympic sport." The team wouldn't be here without volunteer coaches John Sciotto, Alan Chmielewski and Owen Jones, who have transformed the men's and women's clubs into two of the finest in the Mid-Atlantic.
