Temple offers to bring U.S. students home from Japan

Temple officials announced plans to provide a flight out of Japan for American students and staff at Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) for those who wished to heed the State Department's advisory urging Americans in Japan to consider leaving the country. About 115 students already have left the country by making their own travel arrangements. Temple President Ann Weaver Hart credited TUJ Dean Bruce Stronach and his staff for exemplary handling "of this trying and fast-evolving series of emergencies. They have worked tirelessly to keep our students safe." TUJ sociologist Kyle Cleveland praised TUJ's students. "I was amazed how calm and savvy they were," he said. "There's not a mad panic among the students at all."
