A seismometer was re-installed on the Temple Ambler campus after the device’s concrete housing flooded over the summer. The device is part of an East Coast quake measuring network. That hugely expands its contribution. “For example, if you only have one seismograph, it picks up vibrations but it has no directional sensitivity,” said Temple geophysicist Jonathan Nyquist. “It doesn’t know where (the earthquake) came from. Also, it doesn’t know how big it was.”
