TIME: Is Rebecca Black being cyberbullied?

Ever since the music video for her song "Friday" hit YouTube, 13-year-old Rebecca Black has become both an online sensation and the subject of much online vitriol. Does that make her the victim of cyberbullying? The answer has a lot to do with semantics. Under the broad definition of "the use of electronic media to cause harm," Black is experiencing cyberbullying, according to Jonathan Singer, an assistant professor of social work at Temple. "Harm can include intimidation, suicide and a variety of emotional consequences such as increased anxiety, depression and social isolation."
