From doctors to bartenders, there's no shortage of people offering advice about alcohol. What's fact and what's fiction? Recent research calls some conventional wisdom into question. For example, contrary to popular belief, drinking coffee will not get you sober faster. Caffeine may keep you awake, says Temple psychologist Thomas Gould, but it won't lower your blood alcohol level. In fact, a cup of coffee may make it harder for you to realize you're drunk, he says.
