Which is the better diet: low fat or low carb?

Decades of research and dozens of studies have tried to determine which diet, whether it's low carb or low fat, is most effective at weight loss. Gary Foster, director of Temple's Center for Obesity Research and Education published a widely-circulated study in August which concluded either can help with weight loss, but a low-carb diet is, perhaps, better for "good cholesterol" values. "I think it's a disservice getting people to worry about the minutiae of diets," said Foster. "There are pieces of dieting that we know work. One, track what you eat. Weigh yourself often. Make changes behaviorally that allow you to eat healthier."
