When disasters strike, doctors and nurses flood in to help. But what happens later, when public health needs continue after much of the outside help has left? Health care professionals will gather at Temple's School of Medicine to talk about how to improve disaster relief and long-term care at the same time. Medical student Michael Yannes, a member of the Temple Emergency Action Corps, said these issues were driven home to him on a recent trip to El Salvador. "Not only were there acute situations but we had to deal with people not having enough food, people not having enough clothing, people not having enough shelter," Yannes said.
