Faculty Focus: Jerry Ratcliffe

In the latest installment of the faculty profile series, Jerry Ratcliffe, chair of the Department of Criminal Justice, discusses how Temple's Center for Security and Crime Science helps Philadelphia Police.

"Crime science is focused on the crime event itself: How did it happen? Who were the people? Where did it happen? And what can we do to change the environment or the situation of that crime to make it harder for people to commit crime," he said. "We don't just sit in our offices staring at data; we spend time out on the streets with the Philadelphia Police Department.

"It's nice to think that the work that we do makes a difference."
