A native of Northeast Philadelphia, Sandra Trinh originally came to Temple to study computer programming and only take creative writing "on the side." “I found I really enjoy both as language,” says Trinh, a senior who went on to double major in English and information science and technology. “They each have their shortcomings, so combining them makes them stronger.”
Trinh’s code poem If Nothing Else was recently selected for the Code Poetry Slam 1.1 at Stanford University. Her work often explores gender-normative issues in computer programming and other STEM fields. “It’s a great way to tackle the issues we face as a society,” say Trinh.
