After receiving her degree in Spanish and Risk Management and Insurance from the Fox School of Business, Temple gymnast Alexandra Forcucci will take her routine to AIG’s global headquarters as a commercial property underwriting analyst.

Alexandra Forcucci is used to landing on her feet. The Temple gymnast is now taking her routine to AIG’s global headquarters as a commercial property underwriting analyst.

“To graduate and begin working with the No. 1 commercial insurer in the U.S. with operations in over 130 countries is surreal,” Forcucci said. “To me, AIG represents opportunity with clear paths for advancement through visible corporate commitment to personal and professional development.”

As a double major in Spanish and risk management and insurance, Forcucci thrived in the classroom. After coming to Temple from Fort Mill, South Carolina, she was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Academic Team each of her four years. Forcucci won an Owl Club Academic Award, which recognizes a member of each varsity athletics team for academic achievement, and was named a 2013–2014 Trustee Ten member by Temple University Athletics. She also served as a teaching assistant for Professor and Chair of the Risk Management and Insurance program R.B. Drennan.

After overcoming injuries early in her collegiate career, Forcucci was a solid contributor to Temple gymnastics as a floor specialist her senior year. She earned a career-high 9.725 score against local ECAC rival Penn and ended the season with a 9.683 average and 100 percent hit rate on the event.

Prior to declaring her risk management and insurance major at the Fox School of Business, Forcucci was an aspiring international business student. When she enrolled in the Introduction to Risk Management class taught by Associate Professor Michael McCloskey, though, Forcucci was persuaded to change majors.

“Professor McCloskey’s courses really prepared me for beginning my career,” Forcucci said. “And he was essential to me being offered this job.”

Forcucci held an internship at AIG’s headquarters the summer before her senior year. In her new position, she will be part of a team the responsible for analyzing and underwriting large commercial property accounts. Eventually, she would like to work with terrorism insurance coverages that violate characteristics of insurance risks.

As commencement approaches and her time at Temple comes to an end, Forcucci finds significance in AIG’s company slogan, “Bring on tomorrow.”

“I personally could not be more appreciative or elated to bring on tomorrow with AIG,” she said.
