The largest single gift in Fox Chase Cancer Center’s 113-year history will create a new institute at the center, significantly accelerating the pace of research on pancreatic cancer.

 

The transformational, multimillion dollar gift, donated by Philadelphia philanthropist Concetta “Chet” Greenberg, will create The Marvin and Concetta Greenberg Pancreatic Cancer Institute at Fox Chase Cancer Center. 

 

Greenberg, a longtime supporter of Fox Chase Cancer Center, lost her husband in 2008 and later established the Marvin S. Greenberg MD Endowed Chair in Pancreatic Cancer Surgery at Fox Chase in his memory.

 

Associate Professor of Hematology and Oncology Igor Astsaturov and Associate Professor Edna Cukierman will co-chair the new institute. Their research focuses on seeking new therapy targets and markers for early detection, as well as investigating the impact of diet and environment on pancreatic cancer.
