Campus dining in the age of COVID-19

Find out what’s open, what’s closed, and how we’re providing a safe food service experience.

Signage promoting physical distancing has been added to all Temple buildings and food service locations.

As we work to reopen our campuses this fall, we’ve updated our food service operations using new health and safety guidelines to help us to best serve the Temple community.

The health and safety of all Temple students, faculty and staff is always our primary goal. We’re going above and beyond government requirements for food safety and cleanliness to make sure students and employees feel confident using campus dining services when they are on campus.

The following are among the many safety measures required at food service locations across Temple’s campuses.

  • Take-out service only
  • Signage to control traffic flow, present clear indicators of entry and exit points, and provide reminders of physical distancing expectations
  • Updated occupancy limits
  • Mandatory employee hand-washing every 20 minutes
  • Employee temperature monitoring and sending employees home if they have a fever over 100.4°F (38°C)
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by employees at all times
  • Plexiglass barrier installation

These are additional changes to normal campus food service operations you can expect to see this fall.

Esposito Dining Center (J&H), Morgan Dining Hall & Howard Gittis Student Center Food Court
All dining hall locations will have designated entrances and exits, clearly marked by decals and other signage. The university will also provide weather-protected waiting zones that promote physical distancing at each food service location. Menus will offer take-out-only service and offerings will be provided with transportability in mind. Various options will also be provided for students with food allergies and other special dietary needs, including Kosher and Halal options available upon request.

Also, all locations will temporarily close throughout the day to clean, sanitize and prepare for the next meal period.
