Jazz band from Boyer College wins big at jazz competition at Lincoln Center

The Temple University Jazz Band was awarded second place in the 2022 Jack Rudin Jazz Championship.

The Temple University Jazz Band is directed by Terell Stafford.

The Temple University Jazz Band (TUJB) has placed second at the 2022 Jack Rudin Jazz Championship, hosted by Jazz at Lincoln Center. The band, comprised of students from the Boyer College of Music and Dance, is directed by award-winning trumpeter and Director of Jazz Studies Terell Stafford. 

In addition to TUJB’s collective accolade, the jazz band also received recognition for Outstanding Rhythm Section, Outstanding Trombone Section and Outstanding Trumpet Section. Several individual players also received awards, including Anthony Aldissi ’24 for Outstanding Piano, Dylan Band ’22 for Outstanding Tenor Saxophone, Maria Marmarou ’22 for Outstanding Drums, John Meko ’22 for Outstanding Trumpet and Banks Sapnar ’23 for Outstanding Trumpet.
