Quinta Brunson is the recipient of the 2024 Lew Klein Excellence in the Media Award.

Quinta Brunson got her start in comedy long ago as a participant in Temple’s student-produced comedy-variety show Temple SMASH. Years later, she’s being recognized with Emmys, Golden Globes and widespread critical acclaim for her success as the creator and star of the hit ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary.

This year, Klein College of Media and Communication will honor Brunson’s achievements in television by presenting her with the 2024 Lew Klein Excellence in the Media Award at a banquet on May 7, 2024. The award is presented annually to people whose media excellence serves as an inspiration to students. Prior recipients include Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, Tina Fey and Jake Tapper.
