Temple genomics software article hits top 100 most cited scientific works in history
An article on Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis version 7 by Laura H. Carnell Professor of Biology Sudhir Kumar has been named among the most cited in prestigious scientific journal Nature.

In 2014, Laura H. Carnell Professor of Biology Sudhir Kumar joined Temple’s College of Science and Technology to launch the Institute for Genomics and Evolutionary Medicine where he and his team built software to analyze large-scale genomic data.
Now, the article describing the Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis version 7 (MEGA7) software that he and his team developed is among the top 100 most cited scientific works in history from the prestigious journal Nature.
The MEGA software suite features essential tools for constructing evolutionary trees and performing statistical analyses of molecular data.
Since its release, the MEGA7 article has garnered more than 45,000 citations, making it one of the youngest and fastest-climbing articles to hit Nature’s top 100 list.
