Tuesday, Oct. 13, marks the official dedication of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.

Today, Tuesday, Oct. 13, marks the official dedication of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.

A year in the making, the dedication represents a historic milestone for Temple—and for a medical school with a 114-year legacy of excellence in medical education, research and patient care. The event also marks a lasting tribute to beloved Temple University trustee, advocate and supporter, Lewis Katz, CST ’63, whose lifelong values of hard work, dedication and service are also a core part of the School of Medicine’s character and mission.

A private ceremony this morning will mark the occasion, with speakers including President Neil D. Theobald, Temple Board of Trustees Chair Patrick J. O’Connor, School of Medicine Dean Larry R. Kaiser, Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and others. The Katz family will be honored and the new school’s new name revealed.
