Update on mask guidance
To the Temple community,
Following today’s announcement from the city of Philadelphia that masks will no longer be required indoors, Temple University is reinstating its previous mask guidance, which was put into place March 21.
This means that effective immediately, masking will again be optional in most campus spaces, including dining halls, residence halls, common areas, nonclinical office spaces, meeting rooms and the Liacouras Center. Masking will continue to be required in classrooms, labs, studios, healthcare facilities, shuttles or other locations where in-person classes (including examinations) are taking place.
Unless circumstances warrant otherwise, this also means that masks will be optional at this spring’s Commencement ceremonies.
While masks are again optional, that does not mean the pandemic is over. Everyone should continue to consider their own personal risks and decide for themselves whether they want to continue to wear a mask in all or certain situations.
It is also imperative that all of us continue to carry a mask at all times and be ready to place it on if asked.
Thank you for continuing to be flexible and doing your part to keep both the Temple and North Philadelphia communities safe.
Sincerely,
Mark Denys
