Remembering Board of Trustee Member Sandra Harmon-Weiss
Dear colleagues,
It is with deep sadness that we write to share that Temple University Board of Trustees member Sandra “Sandy” Harmon-Weiss, CLA ’71, MED ’74, passed away on Jan. 3. She was 81.
A devoted member of both the university and health system communities, Sandy served as a member of the university’s Board of Trustees since Oct. 2016. She also served the Temple community in several other capacities throughout the years, chairing the Board of Visitors for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine and serving on the Board of Visitors for both the Kornberg School of Dentistry and Tyler School of Art and Architecture. She was also the chair of the board of Temple University Hospital and vice chair of the Temple Health System board.
In her multi-faceted career, Sandy was a family physician, clinical assistant professor at Temple and later an executive in the health insurance industry. Her breadth of knowledge and perspective on health care matters always made her an invaluable voice in every role that she held while serving the Temple community.
We invite you to learn more about Sandy and her legacy here at Temple in this Temple Now piece.
On behalf of the Temple community, we want to express our condolences to Sandy’s family, friends and all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
Sincerely,
John Fry
