Last-minute touches are being put on the $30-million renovation of the historic Baptist Temple building on North Broad Street, which will reopen next month as a performing arts center. Executive director Charles Bethea says the renovation also pays homage to the building's past: "If you stand outside and look at the building, you see what has always been there as a kind of an icon of a city. If you come inside, you see that there's a wonderful blend of the past, but with a strong pull toward the future." The Temple will offer a season of programming beginning April 14th, including concerts, dramatic theatre, and dance, and will also be available for university, community, and private events.

"I think Coach Dunphy's exceeded everyone's expectations," Bradshaw said. "No matter if you're a player, an athletic director, an alumnus, you look at the way Temple's playing, and who would have thought a year ago, when we lost three starters, that we'd have this kind of year?"
