Attorney General Eric Holder spoke to top police brass nationwide at an annual police research forum in Philadelphia. He stressed the need to incorporate new technology while continuing to use fundamental crime fighting tactics. One example of the positive numbers police can achieve by combining new technology and old fashioned pavement pounding is playing out on the streets of Philadelphia. Philadelphia police are presenting a study led by Jerry Ratcliffe of Temple's Criminal Justice Department that shows violent crime dropped twenty two percent in the most dangerous parts of the city covered by foot patrols.
