Presidents of the four state-related universities appear before House panel

State support for higher education took center stage in the Capitol on Monday as officials from the state system, the four state-related universities and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency each went before the appropriations panel to make their cases for funding. Presidents of the four state-related universities — Temple, Penn State, Lincoln and Pitt — told lawmakers they were committed to closing the funding gap without passing the bulk of the burden to cash-strapped students. "We understand the challenges we face," Temple President Ann Weaver Hart told the legislators.
