USA Today: Height adds to blood clot risk

However, the condition is very preventable, says Riyaz Bashir, director of Vascular and Endovascular Medicine at Temple University Hospital. "It is critically important that public awareness about this deadly disorder be increased." He says the best strategy is to first identify high-risk patients and then treat them with medications and compression devices, such as compression stockings.
