Inquirer front page: Temple Flower Show design inspires city garden

For the past 21 years, the northeast corner of 20th and Market streets has been a dusty, vacant lot. But for the next four months, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society will transform it into a huge garden. This "pop-up garden" is a re-creation of an award-winning 2011 Philadelphia Flower Show exhibit by Temple Ambler students in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. Called "Écolibrium — French Traditions/Modern Interpretations," it's a greenhouse with colorful glass panes, set on a bed of compacted gravel that serves as foundation and storm water drainage area.
