Sick-days requirement could hurt the city

A requirement that firms provide each employee a "paid sick days" benefit could face a vote in City Council this week. According to Bill Dunkelberg, professor of economics at Temple and small business expert, such legislation would be "another nail in the coffin" for jobs creation in Philadelphia. "It is difficult to quantify the damage of this bill, but the costs would be passed on to the customer in higher prices or reduced service and quality, and it certainly would not stimulate job creation," he wrote, in an opinion piece.
