Leading journalists and academics describe the future journalist as a multi-tasker who is technologically savvy, a versatile storyteller who can produce content for any format and a community manager who cultivates a constant and interactive conversation with their readership. Temple recently revamped its journalism curriculum to meet these needs, but unfortunately not many other programs have followed suit. "I think a lot of the schools are being very slow to react, to be honest, I think there are individual pockets within each program where an individual teacher is being very innovative in terms of new media and entrepreneurialism, but curricula as a whole are not changing very quickly," said Andy Mendelson, chair of Journalism at Temple, in "MediaShift."
