Ultimate campus event list: October 2023

Here are the most exciting things to do this month.

Oct. Events

As the leaves begin to fall and sweaters make their return, it’s clear that autumn is upon us! Between enjoying pumpkin spice-flavored treats and prepping Halloween costumes, make sure to carve out some time for football, thrifting or maybe even a workshop.

Temple’s event calendar has a complete list of events, but here are a few of our favorites this October.

Celebrate Temple together

One of the best weeks to be an Owl is right around the corner. Get ready to fight, fight, fight at this year's Homecoming tailgate and football game: Temple Owls vs. the UTSA Roadrunners. Get active with family and friends during the day via ghost tours and sightseeing throughout Philadelphia, or wind down for a chill evening at Boyer’s Mosaic Concert. Staying close to campus? Make sure to stop by Tyler’s Art Market in support of fellow Owls and alumni.

When: Oct 2–8

Where: All over Philadelphia

The future is RINGing!

Calling all seniors! Mark your calendars and check off another senior year to-do by ordering your class ring. Barnes & Noble sponsor Jostens will be on campus for two days offering discounted ring orders. Place your order to reward yourself for being Temple Made!

When: Thursday, Oct. 5, and Friday, Oct. 6,  11 a.m.–4 p.m.

Where: Outside of the Main Campus Bookstore

Temple’s Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) is hosting a variety of events just in time for National Coming Out Week! Its calendar is chock-full of fun stuff, from a drag show to a festival and an acoustic music sesh.

When: Friday, Oct. 6–Thursday, Oct. 12

Where: Locations vary

Thrifting season

Gearing up for fall means it’s time for a wardrobe change; luckily for you, Temple’s pop-up thrift shop is back! Stop by the Bell Tower and get ready to shop for some cozy new sweaters and pants. All clothing pieces are under $10, and all proceeds go directly to The Cherry Pantry. Affordable shopping AND for a good cause…pretty impossible to resist.

When: Wednesday, Oct. 11, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

Where: Bell Tower

Got Heart?

Share a little love this fall. Working together toward healing, education and expression, Heart Space works to provide a safe environment for those who have experienced harm. Meetings invite students to create connections and support among one another.

When: Every other Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Where: 201 Wellness Resource Center at the Howard Gittis Student Center

Break a leg

Fall is quite arguably the best season to enjoy movies and entertainment. This October, prepare to be inspired at the Diamond Docs Film Festival featuring documentaries produced by our very own Owls. If you prefer a live show, check out Temple Theaters’’s performance of the Broadway play Choir Boy.
