Ronald T. Brown named interim dean of the Kornberg School of Dentistry
Ronald T. Brown, dean of Temple University’s College of Health Professions and professor of public health, has been named interim dean of the Kornberg School of Dentistry as of May 1, Provost Lisa Staiano-Coico has announced.
A leading pediatric psychologist who specializes in children and adolescents with chronic illnesses and learning disabilities, Brown has received more than $10 million in research funding during his career to study issues such as the oral health of African American adolescents who have diabetes, learning impairments among survivors of childhood cancer and the effects of maternal alcohol use on the achievements of children when they reach school age. Brown holds a doctoral degree from Georgia State University. Brown will continue to lead the College of Health Professions while a national search continues for the Kornberg School of Dentistry dean. After 21 years as dean and 45 years as a faculty member, former School of Dentistry Dean Martin F. Tansy will return to full-time teaching and research as a tenured professor in the school’s Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology. Deputy Provost Richard Englert has replaced Brown as chair of the search advisory committee. Search committee updates are available at www.temple.edu/provost/dentistrydeansearch. |
