Ways to Give 2009

Food Drive

Through Dec. 1:
The Main Campus Admissions and Ambler Campus Admissions offices are collecting non-perishable food items for WMMR's Camp Out for Hunger for Philabundance. No glass containers please. For more information, contact Kelly Otis through e-mail at kotis@temple.edu or by phone at 267-468-8101.
Collection Locations: Main Campus: Welcome Center (1st floor of TECH Center). Ambler Campus: West Hall Lobby. Both locations are open 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Secret Santa Program and gift drive

Through Dec. 2:
The Fox School of Business and School of Tourism and Hospitality Management are hosting "The Delaware Valley Children's Charity Adopt-A-Child/Secret Santa Program and Gift Drive." All participants have the option of either sponsoring a child as his or her "Secret Santa" or donating unwrapped gifts.

Location: The contact person and collection site is: Jennifer Fitzgerald, 1901 Liacouras Walk, Fox School of Business, Alter Hall, room 371.

Toy drive

Through Dec. 4:
The University Community Collaborative of Philadelphia is collecting toys for children of all ages in the surrounding community. E-mail Ieshia Nelson at inelson@temple.edu for more information.

Location: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m. in Tuttleman 404.

Toy drive

Through Dec. 5:
The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Community is hosting a holiday toy drive, seeking donations of new, unwrapped toys for children ages 6 to 14 years old.

Location: Donations can be made in a marked box in Speakman Hall, room 108. Contact Christine Frye at Christine.Frye@temple.edu for more information.

Children’s holiday party

Through Dec. 5:
The Department of Campus Safety Services seeks donations for its annual children’s party. Last year, Campus Safety Services raised enough money to provide toys, food, prizes and entertainment to more than 300 community children.

Location: Make checks payable to Temple University. Checks can be dropped off at 1101 W. Montgomery Ave., Philadelphia, Pa. 19122.

Food drive

Through Dec. 7:
The Office of the Dean in the College of Liberal Arts is hosting a food drive to benefit Philabundance.

Locations: Non-perishable food items can be brought to Anderson Hall, in the 12th floor lobby area or the lobby level computer lab.

Toy and clothing drive:
Through Dec. 9: The Student Athletic Advisory Committee is sponsoring the Third Annual Toy and Clothing Drive for the Women Against Abuse shelter. New items that benefit mothers or their children are accepted.

Locations:Compliance & Student Services Office at 1700 North Broad St., room 416 and Student Athlete Athletic Advising and Support Center in Pearson Hall.

Holiday Book Drive
Through Dec. 10: The Temple University Alumni Association and College of Education are holding their Fourth Annual Holiday Book Drive. Follow the directions posted on the book drive's website to make a donation.

Pet supply drive

Through Dec. 11:
Ambler Campus Library is coordinating an effort to collect items essential to the continued success of the Best Friends Animal Society sanctuary. Donations could include: canned or dry food for cats, soft dogs treats, toys, crate mats, spray bottles, wild bird seed, or any number of pet-friendly items. Contact Joanne Rempfer at jrempfer@temple.edu for more information.

Location: Ambler Campus Library.

Food drive
Dec. 11, 3:30 and 7:30 PM:
The Dance Department of the Boyer College of Music and Dance is collecting canned or boxed food goods as admission to the end-of-semester showing of dances by Freshman Dance Repertory Classes and Graduate Dance Choreographic projects.

Location: Conwell Hall, 5th floor, Conwell Dance Theater.

Toy drive

Through Dec. 11:
Student Financial Services is sponsoring a toy drive to benefit the Women's Christian Alliance, a non-sectarian, non-profit child and family welfare agency. They are seeking donations of new unwrapped toys. For more information please contact Jim Skene at (215) 204-3539 or james.skene@temple.edu.

Locations:
Donations can be dropped off at the Student Financial Services office located on the ground floor of Conwell Hall and Carnell Hall.

Scholarship drive and holiday celebration:

Thursday, Dec. 17, 2:30 to 4 p.m.:
All Temple University Ambler faculty and staff are invited to support and attend the Annual Ambler Campus Holiday Celebration. Part of the celebration is a silent auction, with proceeds going to the Ambler Campus Adult Student Award. Donations of items for the silent auction, as well as wicker baskets to package them with, are needed.

Location: Donations can be dropped off in the Dean's Office in the Administration building through Dec. 9. Contact Crisbel Baez at 267-468-8020 for more information.

Toy Drive

Through Dec. 18:
The Pharmacy School and Kappa Psi fraternity are collecting new, unwrapped toys for children aged infant to 13 years. These toys will benefit children of patients undergoing treatment at the Temple University Cancer Center.

Location: Toys can be dropped off at the School of Pharmacy, 3307 North Broad St. in the boxes located next to the 1st and 5th floor elevators. Toys or monetary donations may be dropped off in office 505.

Cell phone drive:

Through Dec. 18:
The Ambler Student Government Association is collecting used phones and ink cartridges to be recycled in order to raise funds for the benefit of students and organizations at the Ambler Campus.

Location: A drop off box is located in the Student Government Office in Bright Hall.
