Announcing Temple University’s president-elect

To the Temple University community:

This is a momentous day in the history of Temple University. Just a few minutes ago, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Jason Wingard as Temple’s 12th president. Dr. Wingard is a dynamic and innovative leader who is extraordinarily qualified to lead our university in the 21st century. I invite you to learn more about our impressive next president.

I also want to recognize once again the contributions of our 11th president, Dr. Richard Englert, as he moves on to a new stage of a storied career. President Englert has been a tireless champion for the university, and we wish him the very best as he transitions  to the role of chancellor.

Finally, on behalf of the Search Committee and the Board of Trustees, I want to thank all of you who took part in the presidential selection process. From the many town hall meetings to the scores of comments and recommendations you made, it was clear that you care deeply about the university and its future. Your respect and love for Temple inspired us in the selection of a great president.

I know you all join me in welcoming Dr. Wingard, as he leads us through a new era in Temple history.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Morgan
Chair, Temple University Board of Trustees
