For cemeteries, an eternal task

Along Cobbs Creek are the remains of the city's movers and shakers. They were buried at Mount Moriah Cemetery decades ago when the grounds were carefully tended. Now the cemetery is abandoned and the city is leading an effort to place a nonprofit in charge. Anthony Waskie, a Temple professor and historian who helped found Friends of Mount Moriah, said, "It's a matter of will and how much effort and investment people are willing to make."

LCCC in deal with Temple

Luzerne County Community College and Temple have entered a dual admission agreement that provides LCCC graduates automatic acceptance into Temple. Temple’s William Parshall noted that more students are opting for community colleges. “Not everybody is able to afford the residential student experience. But with this program, and the financial incentives incorporated into it, that could change,” he said.
