Basketball leads to an unlikely friendship

Jeremy Pressman, a Modern Orthodox Jew, wanted to take his basketball skill to a new level, so he spent his senior year at Pennsbury High School in Bucks County. There, he befriended Temple basketball's Lavoy Allen. In June, after a standout career at Temple, Allen was drafted by the 76ers. When Jeremy got married in June, Lavoy was a groomsman. And last week, Lavoy spent a few days with Jeremy at a summer camp in New York for Orthodox Jewish children, helping with basketball clinics. "Lavoy is one of the most religious guys I know," Jeremy said. "He's not fake in any way, completely honest and open with everybody, a true example of a person that's outside what he is inside."
