Two prominent Philadelphia health-care institutions, Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University Health System, have joined together. Their CEOs used the word "historic" to describe the union, and outside health-care experts agreed. Alan Zuckerman, president of Health Strategies & Solutions, called it "a blockbuster" and "a very remarkable development." Larry Kaiser, president and CEO of Temple's Health System and dean of the School of Medicine, described the agreement as a "win, win, win" for patients and both institutions. Gerald Katz, an independent consultant, said the deal was "fabulous from both standpoints."
