Crain's New York Business
Armed with new technology and an awareness of global issues, young philanthropists are engaging in social entrepreneurship in previously unimaginable ways. Temple student Alex Epstein started his own nonprofit after making a post-Katrina visit to New Orleans and seeing the lack of support for residents of the Lower Ninth Ward. "The thoughts and emotions the trip provoked made me realize this was what I would be dedicating the rest of my life to," said Epstein. He co-founded the NY2NO to create a network of young people interested in helping disadvantaged residents in New Orleans and New York.
