Distracted driving laws differ across states

In the first comprehensive collection and coding of state laws attempting to address the public health risk posed by distracted driving, researchers at Temple's Public Health Law Research Center analyzed distracted driving laws passed between 1992 and 2010. The researchers found large variations from state to state. "Our study is the first step toward understanding which laws really do reduce distracted driving, and thus can reduce related crashes and associated injuries and fatalities," said Jennifer Ibrahim, the study's lead author and professor of public health at Temple.
