Pa. Senate and House employees receive premium healthcare coverage

Recent reports on the state of health in Pennsylvania revealed that state Senate and House employees are receiving premium healthcare coverage and benefits at taxpayers' expense. Thomas Getzen, a professor of risk, insurance and healthcare management at Temple's Fox School of Business, says that such generous plans, which do not exist in the private sector, help to drive up the cost of healthcare for everyone else. "That is one reason healthcare prices are often two, three, four times more than the cost of delivering the healthcare, because somewhere out there is an insurance plan that will pay the ridiculous amount."
