PBJ: New computers enhance research capabilities

Recent grants from the National Science Foundation have allowed Temple to assemble high-performance computing clusters which will enhance computing capabilities for university researchers. "Everybody understands that a university needs a library, but this type of computational facility is almost as important now," said Temple Institute for Computational Molecular Science's Axel Kohlmeyer, who led the installation of Temple's cluster. Temple Computer and Information Science Chair Jie Wu, who was the principal investigator on the NSF grant, said top researchers want to have the best tools for their research, so clusters such as these are "part of the infrastructure to attract new faculty."
