"They got this one right. This one is big and it goes to exactly the most deserving sort of winner." That's how Inquirer columnist Bill Lyon responded to the announcement that Al Shrier, Temple's special assistant to the director of athletics and former longtime sports information director, has been honored with the Arch Ward Award by the College Sports Information Directors of America. It is given annually to a member who has made an outstanding contribution in the field and brought dignity and prestige to the profession. "No one is indispensable, of course. But there have been a lot of moments when Al has come close," Lyon wrote.
